Here’s some fanart for Jack Teagle and his book Fight.  I’ve known Jack through our sporadic meetings (usually involving 24hr comics) and he’s the best!  It’s always a treat to see him draw.  Fight is about a young wrestler who, since he happens to look like/be a devil, is forced to always be the villian of the show (as much as he hates it).  While I used to really be into american wrestling as a kid, Fight instead reminds me of always walking past a dilapidated wrestling ring/training centre on my way to town when I was really young.  I think the golden age of wrestling in England died out way before I was around, so I only ever really saw posters for crappy looking nights with old out of shape wrestlers.  Fight isn’t like that, but it’s filled with a lot of nostalgia.
This piece started out as a sketch months ago on the train home from seeing Jack and Donya and many other amazing people.  Using reference would’ve definitely helped fix his crossed legs, and if I had more time/space on the piece (it’s made to print on A4 paper), I would’ve loved to add more text!  Between Fight and my love for Love and Rockets, I might have to give a wrestling story a go sometime…

Marcel is the best! He created this piece of fanart based on my Fight comics!
He’s an incredible draftsman, and just recently joined Tumblr, so check him out!
