Lost souls
Finally finished inking.
There’s a few mistakes, but that’s ok.
Archangel Michael.
I’ve been sitting on this drawing for almost ten years and finally decided to colour it.
Snake Attack!
Originally I was struggling with how to colour this image, since the ink drawing is now over a year old.
The colours were inspired by a recent trip to the Eden project at night. Sometimes all it takes is a trip or a walk, and inspiration can take root and slowly reveal itself to you!
Drew some big astronauts with my chunky acrylic pens as a little break from work.
It’s been great to make something so large and to have it flow out on paper relatively quickly compared to my really detailed dip pen drawings, which can take up to a week.
Here’s an old picture I dug out for Halloween! I can’t believe this is ten years old.
I used to write tutorials and columns for Digital Artist magazine. With this one I think I was demonstrating how to make custom brushes for subtle texture and background details.
This is one of my “lost” images. Back in 2013 my computer crashed and so did my back up hard drive in the span of a week. When I get the time, I rescan and revisit my old work and recolour things adding a little extra detail.
Robot Attack
After a busy year, I finally found the time to finish the colouring on this large ink drawing I finished back in January.
I originally drew this over ten years ago for an exhibition that was part of the Supersonic Festival in Birmingham. I’d only just graduated with a BA in Design: illustration.
I drew this on an old piece of scrap A2 card with a slightly blunted mapping nib and the dregs of some old Indian ink.
Since making the image, I lost the original file in a hard drive crash many years ago, so I’ve rescanned, recoloured and added a tiny bit of extra detail to it.
Im really pleased that it still holds up to this day, with my new imagery. I think it goes to show that you don’t always have to hide away old work.
