Here’s an old picture I dug out for Halloween! I can’t believe this is ten years old. I used to write tutorials and columns for Digital Artist magazine. With this one I think I was demonstrating how to make custom brushes for subtle texture and background details.
This is one of my “lost” images. Back in 2013 my computer crashed and so did my back up hard drive in the span of a week. When I get the time, I rescan and revisit my old work and recolour things adding a little extra detail.
I originally drew this over ten years ago for an exhibition that was part of the Supersonic Festival in Birmingham. I’d only just graduated with a BA in Design: illustration.
I drew this on an old piece of scrap A2 card with a slightly blunted mapping nib and the dregs of some old Indian ink.
Since making the image, I lost the original file in a hard drive crash many years ago, so I’ve rescanned, recoloured and added a tiny bit of extra detail to it.
Im really pleased that it still holds up to this day, with my new imagery. I think it goes to show that you don’t always have to hide away old work.
